EuroCC 3: National Competence Centres
EuroCC 3 strengthens the European network of National Competence Centres (NCCs) for High-Performance Computing (HPC), supporting the delivery of high-quality services across all participating countries. Building on the achievements of previous phases, EuroCC 3 focuses on consolidating and further enhancing the network by accelerating the uptake of HPC in Europe. In parallel, three new NCCs will be established, expanding the network and strengthening HPC capacity in additional countries.
Each National Competence Centre is officially designated by the relevant national authority and serves as a central point of contact for HPC expertise, services and training. Together, the centres develop national competencies in HPC and related technologies, foster collaboration across Europe and facilitate access to national and European HPC resources.
The network supports small and medium-sized enterprises, industry, academia and research, as well as the public sector, through training, consultations, technical support and guidance on the effective use of HPC. In cooperation with national AI Factory structures, the NCCs also support users whose applications combine HPC and artificial intelligence technologies.
Working in close collaboration with the Coordination and Support Action CASTIEL 3, EuroCC 3 promotes coordinated network development, knowledge exchange, and a coherent European presence through the HPC in Europe portal and the HPC Service Hub. By advancing digital skills, supporting innovation, and strengthening Europe’s competitiveness, EuroCC 3 directly contributes to the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking’s “Widening Usage and Skills” pillar and to Europe’s broader digital transformation.
Who is involved?
EuroCC 3 brings together 36 National Competence Centres from EU Member States and associated countries. The project is coordinated by the High-Performance Computing Center Stuttgart (HLRS) in Germany.

HPC in Europe: One Shared Identity, One Portal, One Vision
HPC in Europe is the shared umbrella brand of the European network of National Competence Centres (NCCs) and related European HPC initiatives. It connects partners across more than 36 countries, promotes a user-oriented approach and helps build a more connected and unified European HPC ecosystem.
At the heart of this initiative is HPC in Europe Portal – centrálne miesto, ktoré poskytuje prístup k HPC službám, odborným znalostiam, vzdelávaniu, podujatiam, príkladom úspešného využitia, videám, podcastom a ďalším zdrojom z celej siete. Prepájaním aktivít národných kompetenčných centier a ďalších projektov financovaných EÚ pod spoločnou identitou uľahčuje vyhľadávanie a využívanie európskych HPC kapacít a expertízy.ň
This unified approach improves collaboration across initiatives, increases the visibility of national and European activities, and offers users a single entry point to the European HPC landscape. Rather than navigating multiple disconnected websites and information sources, users can easily find the support, services, and opportunities they need in one place.
By connecting national efforts under a strong European identity, HPC in Europe enhances the reach, impact, and accessibility of the entire network - making high-performance computing more visible, more collaborative, and easier to engage with across Europe.
HPC in Europe Portal
The HPC in Europe Portal brings together information from National Competence Centres (NCCs), Centres of Excellence (CoEs) and other European HPC initiatives in one place. It provides access to training courses, events, documents, videos, podcasts, success stories and other resources – both for experienced HPC users and for those who are just getting started with HPC.
Beyond serving as a central information hub, the portal is designed to foster collaboration, facilitate knowledge exchange, and showcase the achievements of EU-funded HPC initiatives. It enables users to discover services and expertise across national borders while providing European HPC initiatives with a common platform to increase the visibility and impact of their activities.
The portal will initially feature content from the National Competence Centres and the Centres of Excellence. Over time, it will expand to include additional projects and organisations from the European HPC ecosystem, creating an increasingly comprehensive gateway to HPC in Europe.
By bringing together information that is currently distributed across multiple websites and platforms, the HPC in Europe Portal simplifies access to European HPC resources and services. It creates a more connected, discoverable, and collaborative ecosystem, making it easier for users to find the information, support, and opportunities they need.
